POM Juice

A Lovely Little Bottle

While I was at the grocery store picking up chicken for dinner, I couldn’t help but stop and see that POM Wonderful was on sale!!  It’s a pricey little bottle so I rarely splurge (well, correction…now that I am married…I rarely splurge) but my nutritional radar wouldn’t slow down, so I beeped my way right over and snagged a bottle.

Typically, I am not a juicer. I prefer to eat my calories and so when I benefit from pomegranates it’s usually in the form of the fruit itself. However, pomegranates in any form are a necessary addition to your diet. They are rich in antioxidants and just 2 oz of this little beverage a day has been shown to prevent or even reverse cardiovascular disease. That is huge, especially considering my family history of stroke and heart attack. I found an article from Life Extension Magazine that explains in more detail about the benefits of pomegranates! I suggest you check it out!

I pondered ways in which to make this juice stretch a little further since 2 oz goes down pretty quickly. I decided to try and mix the POM with  some home-brewed, antioxidant-rich, iced cold green tea. I thought the two in combination would make quite the nutritional powerhouse! I added ~2 oz of POM to ~6 oz of green tea. These two beverages blended together splendidly and for those who might not gravitate toward tea (*cough* me), I think you will be pleasantly surprised. It hit the spot! If only it was on sale more often!!
