The weekend is FINALLY here! Let’s all breathe in a breath of fresh air! I have my teeny apartment windows open and I’m savoring the smells of freshly cut grass!! Thanks lawnmower man, who conveniently woke me up at 7:30 AM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sarcasm aside, I’m absolutely feeling refreshed this morning after a lovely evening with Brandon.

Just a little humor...(http://zef.me/date/2009/09)

It was the first time we ever walked OUT of a restaurant without eating. We waited the 15-20 minutes to be seated and once we glanced at the menu, we realized the prices were out of our league for that particular night. SO,  we cut out quickly, saying we just got an emergency phone call! We are so clever, I know!!
We were simply in the mood for a quick sandwich and this place was deceiving. I won’t disclose the name of the restaurant but it says “Grill and Lounge” after the title, so wouldn’t you think there would be sandwiches, burgers, etc? I guess we were wrong. Nonetheless, we ended up at Max and Erma’s and rounded out the meal with some “Like It” sized cups of Coldstone Creamery Ice Cream. Are you jealous yet? I order the Sinless Vanilla with cookie dough topping. A rare treat…we had a coupon.

Love It... (wendyusuallywanders.wordpress.com/2008/03/)

Anyway, I thought this would be the IDEAL day to add my first interview with a SUNSCREEN CHALLENGER!! Alycia, is my newest blogger friend, who writes about her own daily happenings in her cute, witty blog, “Fit n’ Fresh.” She is another believer in the mantra, “pasty is the new tan,” so it was love at first comment! She is truly hilarious and I thoroughly enjoy reading her blog! Without further adieu, I present, my FIRST Sunscreen Challenger Q + A!!
Want to do a Q +A about the Sunscreen Challenge? Shoot me an email!!

1. Alycia…WHO ARE YOU???

My name is Alycia – pronounced “Alicia”, just spelled with a y instead. To this day, I think my mom still derives secret pleasure in hearing people slaughter my name. That crafty little woman. I’m a 23 year old college student who loves to run, eat crazy health foods, travel to distant places, and grow knowledge of the world. I’m probably happiest when I’m doing all four of these things at once.

2. Let’s talk FOOD…What are your FAVORITES!!??

There are so many – I LOVE food! If I had to pick foods I simply couldn’t live without though, I would have to go with cool whip, strawberries, gnocchi, pomegranates, dark chocolate, pad thai and mochi. Mmmmm the bests of the best.

3. So tell us…how do YOU protect your skin from the sun and why do you LOVE that pale is the NEW tan!

I always always always wear lotion with sunscreen on my face, every, single day and whenever I know I’m going to be outside in the sun for long periods of time, you can be sure I’m slathering on some SPF 50. In fact, my friends make fun of me for bringing along bottles of the lotion whenever we travel together in the summer! Hey, it’s cool though – let’s see who’s laughing when they’re all wrinkly! :)

I’m totally loving that pale is the new tan! Being almost completely Italian, sadly, I’m considered the albino outcast of my family (note the picture). Like so many other pretty pales out there, I used to hate my complexion. I wanted to be tanner, especially since I was surrounded by my much darker skinned siblings. However, over the years, I really grew to appreciate my light skin tone. I love the way it makes my dark features stand out and deep colors, like emerald green and ruby red, just really pop on me. I’ve found it way easier to love lately since pale is just so HOT right now! Being pale is totally sexy.

4. So tell us, Why should others promote the Challenge!!??

I think everyone, regardless of skin tone, should support and promote the Sunscreen Challenge! Think about it: your skin is the largest organ of your body and you should do everything in your power to protect it!! I’m pretty sure it can’t get any easier than applying sunscreen in the morning. And if that still doesn’t motivate you, how about this: going one year without daily sunscreen and just normal sun exposure, is the same as spending one whole week at the beach. Doesn’t that just make you want to run upstairs and bathe in the stuff?

5. Leave us with a few ending thoughts!!

Before I go, I’d like to share a few tips to help you develop a healthy skincare regime:

  • Buy only face lotion with added sunscreen and apply it under your foundation first thing every morning. You’re getting sun protection and dewy skin!
  • Buy a ginormous bottle of body lotion with at least SPF 15 – I’m talking so big, you’d be ashamed to just let it go to waste!
  • Place the bottle out in the open! Sometimes I even set mine in the middle of the floor so I will basically trip over it if I forget to put it on before I leave
  • Drink tons of water! Because as we all know, hydrated skin = healthy skin

I hope I’ve helped sway you over to the Light Side! I love the Sunscreen Challenge and even though I haven’t known the lovely Erin behind The Healthy Apron, I already totally adore her. Keep reading this awesome blog and be sure to check out mine as well! Now go put on some suncreen already!! Geezzz

Alrighty folks, you heard her...the Sunscreen Challenge is a must!! Get on board!! Happy WEEKEND!! I’ve got a girls’ night planned for tonight…don’t you just love those!!??

  • haha love it! what a great post (:

loved the two pictures in the beginning lol the crazy little kitten definitely made me laugh!

  • Mmm. Coldstone is my favorite icecream. Glad you had a good night after finding a more suitable restaurant.

Love the Sunscreen Challenge. I am all about sunless tanner. I had to have 5 moles removed last summer that were questionable. They were all okay but it definitely made me realize I needed to change my sun loving ways.
