Sloppy Joes. Who likes theirs “extra sloppy?” Sloppy Joes always remind me of my childhood. When the grown-ups were eating something a little too adventurous for our taste buds, the kids were given sloppy joes!
The older I became, the more I realized that the nutritional value of the sloppy joe is not exactly healthy, and when you are going back for seconds and thirds; calories could get dangerously high. I personally have not made these in YEARS for this reason!
Memories flooded back in after I tried THIS sensational recipe from Healthy Living with Kelly. She actually discovered how to make a childhood favorite…healthier!!!! I literally could not WAIT to try these because I just knew Brandon would go crazy for them…and did he ever!! We scarfed them for dinner THREE days in a row and he went back for seconds every time. Not that I am promoting gluttony…just saying. He liked them.
I added a little more nutrition with the addition of turmeric. It’s one of my personal favorite additions because it is LOADED with anti-inflammatory benefits and is hardly tasted, especially when recipes also call for Worcestershire sauce! I flared them up a little more with the addition of reduced fat blue cheese crumbles. The crumbles manage to schmooze their way down into the ground meat and you are left with mouthwatering flavors! Take it from me, these are dynamite! I suggest you get cooking!!!!!!!!!!!!

oh yum, I love sloppy joes! such a great idea to add tumeric
You had me at blue cheese crumbles
I’ve only had a sloppy joe once and I don’t remember liking it. Which never makes any sense to me since when I look at the ingredients for sloppy joes they never sound disgusting, so I guess my mom just used a weird recipe.
Anyway, these look amazing and a lot more interesting than your average sloppy joe!
That is a delicious-sounding recipe! I look forward to trying this out on my fella (he swears by Manwich, but I bet I can win him over).
Mmmm! I like how they have a more interesting texture than regular ones. What a brilliant idea to add blue cheese crumbles.
Is it weird that I have never liked sloppy joes?! Even so, your photo of them looks appealing
Those look great! I just made some veggie burgers the other day
I have also really enjoyed using tumeric. It adds such great color, flavor and nutritional benefits. Thanks for sharing!
