Sunny San Francisco!

Vacations are a wonderful time to rejuvenate yourself and take a break from the daily stresses of life. I, for one, cannot get enough! I strongly believe that we must live our lives to the fullest and while the hubs and I are still young, we want to explore the country!

For this trip, we explored sunny San Francisco, drove through the valleys of Napa, and took in the sights at Monteray Bay. Every stop was a memorable one and we could not get over the incredible views! A bonus? It was such a healthy city!! People are active everywhere and there were plenty of healthy options when we went out to eat (more on that later this week)!!

For this post, I just wanted to quickly share some of our favorite sights, so that later in the week I can touch upon our vacation eating philosophies!! I hope you will tune in! For now though, let me highlight some of the fun from our trip!! *Sidenote: Believe me, pictures do NOT do this city justice!

Our first night...we walked around the bay. Such amazing views...but seriously WINDY!!

A view of the city!

Beginning of Day 1: We decided that instead of taking a bus, we would walk from Ghiradelli Square (where our hotel was) to the AT&T Ballpark. It was a beautiful day and we felt like exploring!!

As we trekked through San Francisco, we passed an organic farmer's market!! Of course, I had to stop and check out the produce!!

We definitely got some hill work in on our 2 hour journey to the game!!

We made it!! After the game we enjoyed a couple of massages! What a way to end that day!!

Day 2: After a LONG day of hiking through the city of San Fran on day 1, on day 2, we biked 17 miles total (over the Golden Gate Bridge and in to sausalito for lunch!)

After about an hour of biking, we were almost to the bridge! Quite a view!

Sausalito = GORGEOUS town!

Rainforest Cafe after a long day of biking!

Day 3: Alcatraz. We took tons of pictures but I will let you explore that on your own someday! It was really cool though!

This is just a tease...I will discuss our food choices throughout the coming week!!

Day 4: We traveled to Napa. Jessups Cellar in Yountsville (just north of Napa), was our first wine tasting of the day! Yum!! We left with 3 bottles!

My favorite: a dessert wine that was mixed with chocolate! Oh holy yum! :)

Gorgeous views of the vineyard!

Day 5: We drove back down to Monteray Bay. The first night we just walked through Cannery Row (a hoppin' place with lots of cute restaurants, bars, and shops) and grabbed a bite to eat.

Day 6: On the second day in Monteray, we took the 17 mile drive (huge homes, great views, 3 golf courses...including Pebble Beach!). We found out too late that we could have biked through! We were disappointed!

SO breath taking...

I believe this was called the Ghost Tree. Anyway, it is a famous landmark used by Pebble Beach Golf Club. I had to get a picture!!

The morning we left, we were truly sad to say goodbye...but we'll be back someday California!!! Do I look like a tourist or what??

HAPPY LABOR DAY! Hope everyone has been enjoying their long weekend!

What is the BEST vacation you have ever taken? We are looking for ideas for our next adventure!!

  • San Francisco, the city of my dreams! :)

Wow, how fantastic! I’ve never been to SF but have always wanted to go. Did you get sourdough bread? Don’t tell me you didn’t get sourdough bread. I will seriously be disappointed. ;)

My favorite vacation so far has been to Maine, on the coast, with my best friend this past summer. It’s absolutely beautiful there, especially in the summer when you just need to get away from that heat. And there’s lots of mountains to climb and trails to run. ;)

  • Hi! Thanks for your comment on my blog, and thereby introducing me to yours! :-D
Your SF trip looked like SO much fun. I’ve been to San Diego but never San Fran. Do you live in California?
    Your blog looks wonderful!

  • oh wow, i would LOVE to see Napa one of these days! my favourite way to vacation is touring wine country, for sure. i’ve visited wine regions in every state in Australia (except Tasmania. that’s still on the list.) LOVE California Zin though, haha…can you send me some? :)

  • I adore the Bay Area and wine country! We have visited lots! But one of my favorite vacations was to Iceland. It is a magical, beautiful, relaxing place with really friendly people and great food.

I LOVE the pictures! You and Brandon look made for each other. :) I’m glad you had a good time and am eagerly awaiting the details!

  • San Francisco is definitely on my list of places to visit. I’d love to tour the wineries there! My husband are headed to Sedona in a few weeks to celebrate our anniversary and I’m definitely looking forward to a weekend away and time to relax and spend together.

I forgot to add my own best vacation…DEFINITELY Europe! Germany was my favorite, but Austria and Luxembourg were also incredible. There are so many beautiful places to explore in our own country, but I am most fond of international travel!

  • Ahhhh look at all these beautiful pictures!! I heart SF so much. It reminds me so much of Vancouver (but a bit warmer) and love all the fun things you get to do when you are there. Just walking the city is perfection!

Hmmm my best vacay would have to be when we went to Maui last time. I love the warm air and blue ocean…I am a sucker for heat :)

    Have a beautiful day!

    xxoo

  • San Francisco’s amazing!! We were just there last March for a family vacation. :) Really incredible.

My absolutely best vacation? Hmmm..either Hawaii or NYC. ..or Vegas, but I was too young to actually *do* anything when I was last there.

  • Thanks for sharing the beautiful pics! Makes me want to go. Really like how you were able to stay active the whole time. Can’t wait to hear about the food!

My best vacation was when my husband and I went to South Africa. We were there for 3 weeks, and it was so beautiful. The safety issue made us nervous, though. We were definitely glad we were with a South African friend for the first 2 weeks.

  • My husband and I had an amazing honeymoon in Lisbon, Portugal. It reminded us of San Francisco but with a very European feel, of course! I loved seeing these beautiful photos of you and your loved one. It seems like you two had an amazing trip!

  • I seriously want to do that same trip for our 5 year wedding anniversary! Your pictures make me want to go more. I love how happy you look. :)

  • Amy

LOVE the photos! Can’t wait to hear about the FOOD! =)

  • Aw… it looks like you’re having such a great time! I’m jealous you get to visit new baseball parks- I think getting to visit a new one every year would be cool… I’m such a baseball nerd.
