Life is full of simple pleasures: sunshine, a good book, a motivational quote, or a long chat with a friend. Remember when you were a child and smallest thing could bring you the brightest smile?
Unfortunately, as we get older, life gets more complicated. The little things just don’t do it for us anymore and our happiness becomes about a big house or an expensive car, as opposed to just watching the sunset. The simple things SHOULD be bringing us happiness, but the more stressed out we get, the less time we spend just enjoying life and savoring the precious moments. If this makes you want to be a kid again, raise your hand!!
Since we cannot magically morph in to little rug rats, let’s reflect upon what IS making us happy these days. Does an expensive new watch or pair of shoes bring you happiness or are you placing value in time with family and friends or how healthy you are? Instead of trying to “have it all,” what if we tried to feel content and relish in the moments that don’t cost you a dime. Appreciate your life for what it is!!
For the whole week, I want you to take pleasure in the simple moments. Bake some fresh bread, take a walk in the park and notice the changing colors of the leaves, pick some flowers for a friend, or read a story to a child. Even though these things don’t cost money, living for the simple pleasures will bring you much more joy, peace, and happiness!
Question: WILL YOU SHARE YOUR SIMPLE PLEASURES!!?? What are they?

[...] It’s the Simple Things [...]
These were such cute quotes Erin! What a neat post! I think my simple pleasures are my ability to make people feel happy and have fun with them even when they are having the worst day in the world!
ah, SO TRUE!! how easy is it to get ahead of ourselves and worry about the future instead of concentrating and enjoying the moment? (guilty as charged.) i often find myself the happiest and most thankful when i’m just going for a walk with my iPod, thinking about how blessed i am to live where i do and to have a great husband
I put together this special recipe/ scrapbook type thing for my cousin of baby pics and now pics of her and her fiance, along with recipes submitted by fam and friends….and I used like ALL of those quotes in it, too funny! Great post!!!!
Oh, and about my new site, I did hire a company to help me put it together!
I definitely can appreciate this beautiful post after my weekend. It’s what even I was blogging about today…how much those little things are worth. We take then for granted and become so frustrated with life because we’re no longer focused on the small blessings that grace our lives daily.
Oh I love these quotes and pictures…adorable!
I am bookmarking this post so I can come back and visit it at the start of my days this week. Thank you for always encouraging me to embrace the beautiful life I’ve been given. I’m going to take joy in my simple pleasures: baking, reading, hugging my husband, eating a crisp apple, laughing with my sisters, smiling at strangers on the street. I hope you have a beautiful day tomorrow. Let’s both rejoice!
ah, i love this post! the simple things are definitely something to think about when we need a pick me up! mine is always admiring a beautiful hawk in the sky…because for all i know, i won’t be able to find them in the future…
Thank you so much for visiting my blog. I just love this post, and I’m excited to read more from you!
I LOVE this post! Thank you for the much-needed Monday inspiration to make this a great week
My “simple things appreciation list” for today includes pumpkin cookies, an after-work visit with my mom, relaxing walk with my pooch, and cooking dinner with my husband.
What a beautiful post! I actually am very proud of myself because I feel like I do take pleasures in the little things… my puppy’s wet nose, the pride of cooking a new recipe, the rain dripping down the windows… I’m a bit of an emotional person, so I think that helps me to appreciate the little things
I hope you are having a wonderful day!
My favorite chef instructor from culinary school said the best dishes are the simplest. Same goes with yoga! sure, some poses look really cool and give you abs or arms of steel, but the best poses that feel soooo good are usually so simple like childs pose. I like listening to npr, I am such a nerd.
Oh, the last picture is so cute and the message is SO right. Laughter is the medicine of life
Have a happy day!
This is an amazing post and I completely agree. When I started my blog I called it Simply Maren because I wanted to focus on the simplicity aspect of life. I hope you have a wonderful week. No stresses!
I think I took a big sigh when I read this. I love just throwing the ball around with my dog, bless his heart – he gets so happy:)
I always love it when you put up those pictures with quotes over them.
I loved this post so much! I even sent a little link of it to my mom so she could read it too
Sometimes it really is the simple things in life that make it so wonderful!
