Thanks to all those who participated!! I will be having more giveaways coming soon!!
1. Meat-LESS May!
I felt so encouraged by all the comments I received yesterday in regards to “Meat-LESS May,” (and I stress “LESS” because you don’t even have to go cold turkey to participate!). I just want everyone to try and challenge themselves and their families to go at least one day a week sans meat! I’m working on creating a blog button (with the help of my friend Jen over at Peas and Crayons), so my bloggie friends can help me support the cause! GOOOOOOOO Meat-LESS! I’m Lovin’ It!
2. CRUNCH! Gym.
If you don’t have Exercise TV on Video on Demand, you should look in to getting it. I LOVE my Exercise TV and use it almost daily. Recently, they added CRUNCH! Gym workouts to their repertoire and for a 20-25 minute workout, my heart rate is high! I’ve tried several of their workouts thus far: CRUNCH Action Diesel, Action Chisel, Sexy Stretch, Abs, and World Dance Rhythms. Each workout was a unique combination of cardio, strength, and stretch. The best part? The videos are SO fun! If you are looking to change up your workout, try out one of these videos. If you have a little extra time, you can even try TWO of their workouts in a row! Talk about a calorie torching session! I’m LOVIN’ It!
3. I WAS Lovin’ It: Nature’s Gate Natural Toothpaste.
Over the weekend I bought this toothpaste from Whole Foods. According to the company, “Brushing with our great tasting fluoride-free Cool Mint Gel Toothpaste helps reduce dental plaque build-up and brightens teeth while freshening breath and promoting oral health. Our unique formula contains an exclusive blend of 7 oral health botanicals to leave your mouth feeling minty clean and refreshed.”I was looking for products that were fluoride and sulfate-free. Why would I want a product that is fluoride-free? Fluoride has more dangers than most people are aware of. Fluoride can lead to the destruction of protein bonds in cells of our connective tissue, increase tumor growth by confusing the immune system and increase the progression of bone cancer, lead to premature aging, IQ deficit, and even infertility! Opt for products that are fluoride-free and look in to getting a reverse osmosis water filtration system to get it out of your water! For more information check out the Fluoride Action Network.
I’m NOT Lovin’ It: After further inspection, I noticed that one of the ingredients in this toothpaste is SODIUM LAUROYL SARCOSINATE! Trust me, at the store, I just thought, “Oh! No sulfates…perfect!” However, I found out that this ingredient is actually in the same category as sulfates! If you didn’t know, sulfates are foaming agents used in products like shampoo and toothpaste, which may contain nitrosamines, which are carcinogenic. The lesson: just because a product SAYS it is ”Natural” doesn’t mean it’s healthy!! Triple dislike.
I hope everyone enjoys a long Easter weekend! I won’t be posting tomorrow, as I will be thoroughly enjoying my day off! Happy Easter!
Questions:
Have you tried the CRUNCH workouts?
Have you ever brought a product home, only to discover it contains a nasty ingredient?
Would you add a Meat-LESS May Button to your blog sidebar to show support?

I feel like I don’t eat much meat already…probably due to my intense love of carbs.
Hoppy Easter !!!
never tried the crunch videos yet or workouts……..yes i have bought things lately and then looked at the labels-scary and not happy with my purchase. happy easter!
To finish all this easter egg fat, gotta start some situps lol! Eating les meat in may might be an alternative option lol!
I have to look into those Crunch workouts! I just started back into Exercise TV…it is such a great option for at-home workouts! Happy Easter, hun!
Congrats to all the winners!! I could try going meatless for a month but it would be way difficult living home
Meatless for a whole month probably wouldnt be TOO hard for me but I have 3 weddings to attend so it might not be the easiest… I could definitely eat less though
I’ll post it!
I’ve always been concerned with using fluoride. I have really weak teeth that are prone to cavities so my doctor recommends be using this fluoride gel on my teeth every night after I brush my teeth. I don’t really use it because I don’t like the fact that you don’t rinse your mouth after applying it. I really don’t want to be swallowing that stuff throughout the night.
Grrr I don’t know what to do? Continue to get cavities or risk ingesting too much fluoride?!
Congrats to the winners!
I would definitely add a meatless may button to my blog! What a great idea!
I love exercise tv! I plan on using it Sunday since the classes at the gym will be canceled.
My company makes a toothpaste that is fluoride free. It is made with aloe vera and it is awesome! I love it!
SO EXCITED I WON! THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Needed this bottle
I talked to my dentist about whether I should buy a fluoride free toothpaste, and he laughed at me. He said we would never consume enough fluoride to make it harmful, so I just stick to buying the other stuff (the cheaper stuff). I mean, like you said, there is always SOMETHING that has been deemed as “bad”.
I love Exercise TV too. LAtely, even though I hate to admit it, I have been really into Jillian Michael’s videos!! I can’t stand her as a “nutritionist” but as a trainer she’s pretty awesome. I will have to look into the CRUNCH videos!
I once brought home buffalo burgers from TJs, which had 2 grams of trans fat per patty. Ooops. I ate them anyway (because I hate to waste money) but never again!!
Don’t know Exercise TV, is it same as fitness on demand? Such a good lesson with the toothpaste it’s so hard for people to stay on top of label reading and you would think the WFM toothpaste was free of carcinogens, not so I guess.
I’ve heard great things about the CRUNCH workouts and would love to try them. I need to start using video on demand!
Bummer about the toothpaste. You should definitely try returning it to Whole Foods. They have a great customer service policy: If you don’t like it, they’ll take it back. No questions asked!
I recently bought and “all natural” cream of spinach soup, and when I got home, realized that it contained sulfites (which I guess are different than sulfates). After researching them a bit, I found out that they’re preservatives! Yuck!
Hope you have a WONDERFUL Easter weekend, Erin! <3
So many scary things in just a tube of toothpaste! It’s hard to keep with everything good and bad for you sometimes.
I love exercise on demand- it’s so convenient!
LOVE Exercise TV and will be doing a lot of it post-Ella! Thanks for the tip on Crunch Gyms programs…I was a regular Exercise TV addict before I was preg, now I am out of the loop!
I was going to try that toothpaste once and for some reason I did not grab it. I am glad you did a review on it
I think I could go meat-less for the month, but I think my husband would be a bear by about the 3rd or 4th.
I’ll support you all the way Erin!!! Have a great day.
I bought some frozen veggie burgers recently and didn’t look carefully at all the ingredients. I looked more carefully before I made them and was so mad at myself for not looking while at the store. Such a disappointment. I’m usually so good about reading labels before I purchase. I guess it happens to us all from time to time.
When your “button” is ready let me know. I’m on board!
i’d love to add a MEAT-less May button to my sidebar (is it hard?! i have no buttons and have never added one! not technologically gifted!)
there was a big debate re fluoride in water in my city, back in the fall. it was even included in the election for mayor; our city voted to NOT have fluoride in the water..but it was really close.
i’d have to say some protein bars have kind of shocked me when i read their ingredient lists…why i’ve taken to calling some of them “frankenfoods!”
happy easter weekend!
WHAT Crunch workouts sound awesome!!! why have i never heard of them!
I vow to do my best to be meat-LESS in may as much as possible. I live with the most carnivorous man you have ever met so it is hard to get him to eat vegetarian meals but that doesn’t mean I have to eat it too! I will do my best to cut down but I can’t say it is realistic for me to cut meat out cold turkey…
I didn’t know they added Crunch work outs to exercie TV on demand! I’m excited to try them out!!
Yeah! I definitely want to try to go meatless in may! I need to get outside my comfort zone and try more meat free but protein packed meals. I’ll be keeping my eye out for the blog button.
I haven’t tried any of the crunch workouts, but I have a few in my Netflix queue so it’s good to know you like them!
OMG yes – I brought home a protein powder once, only to discover it contained high fructose corn syrup. YUCK!!
I love the Crunch workouts! Specifically the Yoga/Pilates one. It’s 45 minutes and it reminds me a bit of my ballet years! Plus my abs are sooo sore the next day. And the instructor flows very, very well.
Ugh, I hate when products label themselves “natural” only for me to find later that they aren’t. Like half and half. I have to get organic in order to get something that only has milk and cream in it. I’m sorry, but I can’t imagine carageenan out in nature. It honestly appalls me what ingredients a lot of packages consider “natural” or even “organic!” Just goes to show you REALLY need to look at ingredient lists!
I’d definitely add a button on my blog to support it!
I will definitely add a Meatless May button to my sidebar to support you! I think I probably should take a closer look at my products. I spend a lot of extra money on healthy, natural products, so I guess I should be checking to make sure that they are as good as I think!
Have a Happy Easter sweet one!
Meatless for a whole month- WOW- awesome
I don’t think I could do it right now (Baby D likes some chicken every now and then!), but I love the concept.
