Bathing suit season. It’s right around the corner!! What are YOU doing to prepare yourself for the big reveal; dieting, working out, eating right? Maybe you don’t care, but more times than not, most people always feel they have a few more pounds to lose, more areas to tighten, and lack any self-confidence when it comes to wearing a bathing suit! If this sounds all too familiar, it’s time for a change! Whether you are a size 2 or a size 22, it IS possible to rock your swimsuit at the beach and feel great about your body!
1. Accentuate the positives. Play up the features you like most about yourself and don’t bring attention to an area you aren’t comfortable with. If you love your belly but aren’t as fond of your thighs, find a fashionable sarong that hugs all the right places. Just try to avoid wearing anything too big and bulky, it’ll only make you look larger. Own your curves!
2. Select the right suit for your body type. There are plenty of people who opt for suits that are either too small or too big. Use your clothing size as a starting point but remember that most swimsuits run small. When selecting a suit, try a style that you may not think would work on you, you might surprise yourself! Finding the right fit can sometimes make all the difference! Also, pay attention to color! Don’t pick a color that washes you out! Make a statement! Many people are pleasantly surprised by how great they feel in a suit when they find the right fit, color, and style!
3. Accessories. The perfect hat, tote, or even jewelry can make all the difference! They draw the eye upward, adding color and style and help take attention away from your self-proclaimed trouble zones!
4. Do some grooming! Feeling great at the beach is not only dependent on your swimsuit, but on how your SKIN looks! Exfoliate away dry or flaky skin, get a pedicure so your feet feel pretty, get your legs waxed, or opt for a faux tan. These little touches can make all the difference!
5. BE CONFIDENT! Above all else, be confident in who you are. Even if you weren’t able to lose all the weight you intended or tone every area of your body, remember that no one is perfect. Look around the beach, chances are you don’t see those models in the magazines walking around; just average people! So make sure that YOU stand out by keeping good posture, walking proud, and SMILE! Wearing a big smile radiates INNER beauty and that always outshines any other “flaw” that you think you might have!
Now go out there this summer and rock that body!! Anyone can look good in a bathing suit, you just have to have the confidence (or fake it) and the right look, to pull it off! Can you tell I’m excited for Hawaii??
QUESTION: How do you ROCK your swimsuit?

Oh no…you have zero confidence most of the time?? You shouldn’t…you are a beautiful person inside and out. You have a gorgeous figure and a gorgeous personality.
HAving confidence in yourself is SO important!!!
I love your tips!!
Have a great trip, not sure I rock a swimsuit. I do a fall marathon each year keeps the bulk of the training in swimsuit season. Having said that I love my “coverups.”
omg this is totally what i needed as i’ll be in hawaii in t-minus 48 hours!!! and in a bikini!! woot woot! love the suggestions!
Have a great trip!!!!
CONFIDENCE IS SO KEY! i also make sure to do my hair and makeup– its an INSTANT boost!
Oof i’m lacking in the bikini confidence! I’m confident with clothes on though! hahaha! your captions are cah-racking me up! =)
I get a free pass this year being preggo!
Next year my cellulite should be gone-ish!
I would be so excited for Hawaii! I like to lift all year long, but especially in the summer. I love feeling good about being toned in swimsuits and tank tops
Hope you have a wonderful trip!!
can’t wait to hear about your trip!!! have a most wonderful time!
i choose bright colours in a bikini style that i know suits me and that i feel comfortable in. also *grooming* is a must!!!
and, remember that everyone else on the beach or by the pool is in the same boat!
What great tips! And perfect timing since I am going to be a bathing suit next week. Eek!
I know there is so much more I could have done to look better in my swimsuit but now I just have to rock it! I have been using copious amounts of self tanner since I am as white as a ghost.
You GO GIRL!
Great post! Hope you have a great trip! I buy a suit that flatters all around.
My secret is that ALL YEAR is bathing suit season when you are a swimmer. So I’m totally comfortable in itty bits of spandex.
I also don’t usually go for bikinis because they cut my body in an odd way. No sense going for something unflattering, I think one pieces make me look longer.
That’s smart advice to find a suit that works for your body and a little spray tan always compliments a bikini!. I don’t know why you say you have zero confidence, you look AMAZING! I hope you have so much fun in Hawaii!
Love your bikini tips!
I am so excited for your trip. Living vicariously through you because it’s going to be a LONG time before we can go on vaca
Can’t wait to hear about it!!!
Confidence is so key! I also think a spray tan can help (at least me), and some fabulous wedges to elongate those legs and make you strut your stuff!
I definitely know what shape of swimsuit works for me- that helps A LOT.
Work out then WORK IT! Once you get healthy, eating and exercising you start feeling SO good and it really shines through. Confidence really is everything
LOVE HAWAII, awesome you get to go!
Have a FABULOUS time on your trip!
If I work hard and eat well then I feel so confident knowing I look good because I worked for it! I also love accessories – a straw beach hat and a cute cover up completes the look!
It really is all about having confidence in your body, even if you have to fake it.
