GET RID OF THE SCALE!

Time to show my scale who is boss! Boo wanted in too (or he thought I was nuts).

Last week I stated that each person should have an idea of what they weigh or what their measurements are. Today, I am here to tweak what I said.

The past couple days I have done a 180. I can hardly say that I am completely cured of my skewed perception, but I have gained NEW perspective and it comes from all of you. Since my confession last week, I have read more stories of triumph, struggle, and encouragement when it comes to the darn scale that I decided it was time to do something about it!! So I am here today to do what some people feel they cannot do and that is GET RID OF THE SCALE!

The reality of holding on to something that had such power over my mind and emotions scares me.  I am seriously not okay with weighing myself; ever. While I hope to reach a point where daily weight fluctuations don’t make or break my day, I’m not there yet, and I have no idea if I ever will be.

SO, since this week is National Bathing Suit Confidence Week, I want to inspire YOU to join me in getting rid of the scale if it causes you the same heartache.

Last night I walked out to our big garbage bins and said goodbye to my greatest enemy.

A huge weight was lifted off my shoulders!

I was SO relieved because I knew that tomorrow I didn’t have to answer to the number on the scale and that I can begin focusing my efforts on what is most important; God, family, friends, and my health.

Even though I may have gained a few pounds this past year, I still feel healthier than I have ever felt, and I don’t need a scale to tell me that!  There are better ways to keep your weight in check!!

  1. How your clothes fit.
  2. Daily pictures (you will see you don’t change day to day!)
  3. Your measurements (much less likely to change day to day unless retaining water).
  4. Body fat percentage.
  5. How YOU feel about yourself!

Tonight, I ask you to take a moment and re-evaluate YOUR relationship with the scale. If you find that it causes you remorse, just GET RID OF IT! I guarantee you’ll be happier!

Time to start living life and STOP getting so upset over a stupid number!! YOU CAN DO IT!! We all can. This week I have a NEW statement; weight really IS just a number. Weight doesn’t evaluate your self-worth, it doesn’t even gauge how healthy you truly are, it only makes most of us feel really badly about ourselves.

QUESTION: Have you gotten rid of the scale yet? What is holding you back? What are your thoughts on this topic?
