Since it’s been awhile since I’ve done an “I’m Lovin’ It” post, I thought I would start this Thursday with a few things that I’m LOVIN’ this week!
1. Mamma Chia.
While I was at Whole Foods yesterday I happened upon a beverage called Mamma Chia. Since it looked a little different (and I needed something to blog about), I decided to check it out! I tried the Blackberry Hibiscus and with just a subtle fruity flavor and an interesting texture, this little bottle definitely quenched my thirst. With only 110 calories, 10 g of fiber, 33 mg of calcium, and a whopping 2000 mg of Omega-3′s in the entire bottle, I was pretty impressed! This is an excellent grab and go beverage if you are looking to satisfy your thirst and get an extra boost of nutrition. The only con? $3.69 per bottle. Yeeps! I’m still LOVIN’ it though!
2. WHOLE FOODS.
With our recent move, I FINALLY live near a Whole Foods. I really don’t think I need an explanation here. The healthy options are endless!! Can I just say…I’m LOVIN’ IT!??
3. Garlic.
I love garlic. The more garlic the better, in my opinion. I love garlic in salad dressings, with my veggies, mixed with sauces, and roasted in the oven. I just can’t seem to get enough! The best part? It’s one of the healthiest additions to any diet! In a study in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers show that eating garlic appears to boost our natural supply of hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide is actually poisonous at high concentrations but the body makes its own supply of the stuff, which acts as an antioxidant and transmits cellular signals that relax blood vessels and increases blood flow.
“The power to boost hydrogen sulfide production may help explain why a garlic-rich diet appears to protect against various cancers, including breast, prostate and colon cancer, say the study authors. Higher hydrogen sulfide might also protect the heart, according to other experts. Although garlic has not consistently been shown to lower cholesterol levels, researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine earlier this year found that injecting hydrogen sulfide into mice almost completely prevented the damage to the heart muscle caused by a heart attack,” according to a 2007 article in the NY Times.
Whether there are definitive health benefits or not, try using a little garlic every time you cook! Just keep in mind that garlic is MOST effective when eaten raw, crushed, and/or chopped (to help release the active compounds). MmmmmMmm! I’m LOVIN’ it!
4. What Alice Forgot.
I suggest you cozy up this fall with a good book. May I suggest What Alice Forgot? It’s an easy, fun read that will leave you guessing right up until the end. Without giving away the good stuff, let’s just say that after Alice hits her head in a spin accident she loses memory of the past ten years of her life. It was a page turner. I won’t say anymore than that but I’m LOVIN’ it!

I’ve never seen that mamma chia before, looks interesting. Is the texture weird? wow 10g of fiber!
I’ve Mamma Chia everyone lately! My sister recently tried it, but I have yet to get my hands on it! I think I’ll head to Whole Foods today and pick some up.
So great that you live near a Whole Foods. You will love it! I know I do.
Well, this is a fantastic reason for me to start cooking with even more garlic.
I love whole foods. It’s definitely one of the things that I miss not living in the US anymore.
The salad bar? DELICIOUS.
I wish I lived near a Whole Foods…..

We live closer to a Whole Foods, too…I can’t get enough. I wish they would offer more of those Living Social deals…that would be perrrfect
I can’t wait until Whole Foods comes to Boise next year! I’m a huge fan of garlic myself, I just recently tried fresh farmers market garlic SO AMAZING!

Hi Erin. Love your “I’m lovin’ it” posts. Bring on the garlic!
Garlic is always on my love list! I add it to everything!
Thank you for the book recommendation, I am always searching for a new read! And that drink sounds quite interesting, I shall be on the lookout
not like tapioca…it’s hard to describe though! It almost makes me think of drinking really liquidy jello? I enjoyed the texture though!!
i definitely need to check out that book. and YES PLEASE to the garlic!
Whole Foods and garlic! Atta girl
Sounds like a really interesting book too, I’ll have to look into it!
i love posts like these! i’m always interested in what other people love. i have not had those drinks! i always love garlic, that’s a given. that book – i’m writing it down – bc i am reading like crazy lately! thanks!!
Hello Erin,
I’m going to have to give Mama Chia a try as the 2000mg of omega-3s are really impressive! I’m skeptical of the texture as chia becomes gel-like when mixed with liquid. I imagine it to be kind of like tapioca. By the way, great tips on garlic!
Thanks for the book rec, I’m always looking for good ones to add to my list
I wish I was lovin’ garlic, but since I can’t eat it, I’m LOVIN’ garlic OIL! It’s my new favorite thing to add to recipes. I doubt it has the same benefits of garlic though, because the allicin is not there (at least I don’t think it is….).
Thanks for the book recommendation!
